The International Polar Year 2007 – 2008 is an internationally coordinated research campaign initiating a new era in polar science. This 2008 coin is one of a series of four developed in conjunction with the Royal Society of Victoria, celebrating Australia’s continuing connection with Antarctica.  It depicts the flight of the Antarctic Skua, a large migratory bird found on the Antarctic islands and coast. 

The coin is encapsulated and displayed in a beautiful presentation case with a numbered #512 Certificate of Authenticity and box.
